Brynäs IF's women's team has won its first ice hockey SM gold after a 6–2 home win over Frölunda in the third final game, securing a 3–0 series victory. The win came at Monitor ERP Arena in Gävle before 6,851 spectators. Points leader Viivi Vainikka praised her teammates afterward.
Brynäs IF has secured the futures of three key players by extending their contracts. Forward Oskar Lindblom will stay for three more seasons, while captain Anton Rödin signs a two-year deal and defenseman Johannes Kinnvall agrees to three years. The announcements come ahead of a home match against Frölunda.
