At least five people have died in Austria following a heavy snowstorm, including avalanche victims in Tirol. Vienna airport temporarily halted operations, and there were power outages and road closures. Avalanche risk remains high in the Alps.
Yalder Alejandro Collazos, 25, died at Hospital Departamental San Vicente de Paúl from severe injuries sustained in a traffic accident in vereda Claros, Garzón municipality, Huila. The young man crashed his motorcycle into a tree after losing control while heading to the Zuluaga population center. Authorities are investigating the causes of the incident.

Firefighters found the body of Sérgio Luiz Cordeiro, 67, buried after a landslide caused by heavy rains in Natividade da Serra, in São Paulo's interior. The man had been missing since Sunday (February 22) when his home was hit by a collapsing embankment near Oswaldo Cruz Highway. This brings the total deaths related to rains in the state to 19 since December 2025.
