Woman FIDE Master Alexandra Botez will take on four chess prodigies in the next episode of Kids vs. Stars on April 27. The event features a clock simultaneous exhibition where Botez aims to extend the Stars' winning streak. The kids' team seeks its first victory in the current format.
Chess.com has scheduled the latest installment of Kids vs. Stars for April 27 at 4:30 p.m. ET, or 22:30 CEST. WFM Alexandra Botez, a popular streamer, will play a clock simul against four young talents: 13-year-old WFM Ashley Qian, the 2024 Ontario Chess Challenge Grade 5 champion; Kenneth Alba, a top Mexican player in his age group; 12-year-old WCM Larissa Mayorga, a two-time Central American and Caribbean Champion; and 10-year-old WCM Abigail Zhou, the 2023 Pan-American Youth Festival Under-8 Girls champion. Botez will have 65 minutes plus 15-second increments, while each opponent gets 15 minutes plus 15 seconds, with clocks running continuously. The first side to 2.5 points claims victory. The prodigies hope to secure the Kids team's inaugural win under this setup. In the four prior episodes, Stars prevailed three times by 2.5-1.5 margins, with GM David Howell posting a 3-1 result in the other. Viewers can watch on Chess.com's YouTube and Twitch channels, where IM Jovanka Houska and FM Mike Klein provide commentary. Botez will also stream her viewpoint on BotezLive.
