Aston Villa defeated Freiburg 3–0 in the Europa League final. The win gave Unai Emery his fifth title in the competition.
Aston Villa took the lead just before halftime. Youri Tielemans scored the opener with a volley in the 41st minute. Seven minutes later Emiliano Buendia curled in the second goal.
Morgan Rogers added the third in the second half to seal the result. Swedish defender Victor Nilsson Lindelöf started the match for Aston Villa.
The title is Aston Villa’s first major European trophy since the European Cup in 1982. Unai Emery has now won the competition five times and is its most successful manager.
