Campsite flooded in Lidköping

Heavy rain caused flooding at Kronocamping in Lidköping on Friday evening. SMHI had issued warnings for cloudburst-like rain in southern Sweden.

Rain poured over Lidköping in the evening and caused Kronocamping by Vänern to flood. Water reached about 30 centimeters in places.

An employee at the campsite described the situation. “It is wet everywhere with major flooding”, the person said. Many guests struggled to save their belongings and some tents took in water.

Staff partly blamed the flooding on clogged drains after dry days. They shoveled water and moved cars to help. Few tent guests were affected because many had chosen not to camp due to the weather forecast.
