Pop star Dieter Bohlen has married his long-term partner Carina Walz after 20 years together on the Maldives. The wedding took place on New Year's Eve afternoon, with the couple in white attire on the beach. Bohlen said the Maldives are their favorite island.
Dieter Bohlen, the 71-year-old pop titan and DSDS judge, married his 42-year-old partner Carina Walz on December 31. After 20 years of relationship, the couple exchanged vows on a white Maldives beach just before sunset, as they confirmed to the "Bild" newspaper. Their children were present; son Maxi took the bridal photos. Bohlen and Walz have two children together.
"We said: If we're doing it, then here. The Maldives are our heart island," Bohlen stated. The choice of New Year's Eve was Carina's wish: "Carina wanted it that way. Then every year on New Year's Eve we not only party, but also celebrate our wedding anniversary, which I guarantee I'll never forget. I think that's nice." On Bohlen's Instagram account, he shared pictures and videos of the celebration, captioned "We got married" with four hearts. The couple posed in white: Walz in a floor-length lace dress with a high slit, Bohlen in a linen shirt and pants, under blue skies and palms.
They met 20 years ago in a disco in Cala Rajada on Mallorca. Bohlen recalled in a video his awkward approach: "Hey, what are you ordering there?" As early as early 2024, Bohlen had publicly announced wedding plans and spoken of a fixed date from the start of the relationship: "If we're still together then, I trust you and will marry you." This is Bohlen's third marriage, which he calls his last.
