Edo assembly summons 2Baba's wife Natasha Irobosa over viral video

The Edo State House of Assembly has summoned lawmaker Natasha Irobosa, wife of singer 2Baba, to address conduct seen in a viral video that lawmakers say embarrasses the House. She must appear before the Ethics and Privileges Committee within one week. The move follows online spread of footage showing a heated exchange between Irobosa and her husband.

On Tuesday, during a plenary session, the Edo State House of Assembly summoned Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, the first-term lawmaker representing Egor Constituency, over recent actions captured in videos circulating online. Speaker Blessing Agbebaku announced the directive, stating that Irobosa must appear before the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges within one week to respond to allegations of misconduct.

Agbebaku emphasized the impact on the House's reputation, saying, “Hon. Natasha Irobosa has been summoned to appear before the Ethics and Privilege Committee of the Assembly due to her recent conduct which has been trending online. This conduct drags the name of the House into the mud and it is the responsibility of the members of the Assembly to conduct themselves well.” He added that the Assembly comprises “cerebral minds” who should avoid unnecessary scandals, noting, “This House has members who know what they are doing and the attitude of our member has brought this House to disrepute and we will not tolerate it.”

The committee is tasked with investigating the matter and submitting a report within two weeks. The viral video depicts a heated exchange between Irobosa and her husband, music star Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, sparking widespread social media reactions and questions about their relationship.

Prior to entering politics, Irobosa was known through her ties to the entertainment industry. Her election brought a fresh perspective to Egor Constituency, particularly on community and women's issues. In November, the couple welcomed their first child together, a baby boy, which Irobosa confirmed on her Facebook page, stating they had been “blessed with a baby boy.” Her appearance before the committee is anticipated to attract significant public interest as the House reviews her conduct.
