Electricity Minister Mahmoud Esmat met with officials to review security and progress at the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project on 23 June 2026.

Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, held a meeting with Sherif Helmy, Chairperson of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority, and Osama El Metbouly, Head of the Ministry’s Security Sector. They examined the physical protection plan, developments at the security city, preparations for nuclear fuel arrival, and overall project advancement.

The review covered compliance with the timetable for connecting the plant to the national grid. Discussions also addressed training programmes and coordination with the Russian side to accelerate work.

Esmat stated that implementation is proceeding according to plan. He noted the project’s role in Egypt’s energy strategy to diversify sources and reduce fossil fuel dependence, highlighting ties with Russia.
