On the eve of the preparatory session in the Chamber of Deputies, La Libertad Avanza (LLA) solidified its position as the first minority by adding Entre Ríos deputy Francisco Morchio, from Encuentro Federal, bringing its bloc to 95 legislators. This gain paralleled the split of three Catamarca deputies aligned with Governor Raúl Jalil, who left the Unión por la Patria (UxP) bloc to form the 'Elijo Catamarca' interbloc. Legislators Fernanda Ávila, Sebastián Nóblega, and elected Fernando Monguillot notified the creation of their bloc via a letter to Chamber President Martín Menem, with Nóblega taking the presidency.
Catamarca deputy Claudia Palladino chose to stay in UxP, which now has 93 members under President Germán Martínez and Secretary Paula Penacca. Jalil, who has clashed with Peronist leadership and held positions close to Javier Milei's government, drove this move and called to 'desconurbanizar' Peronism, exploring alliances with governors like Salta's Gustavo Sáenz and Tucumán's Osvaldo Jaldo.
With 95 deputies, LLA surpasses UxP and, after the swearing-in of 127 new representatives, can appoint the first vice president—currently held by Cecilia Moreau, who would shift to second vice president—and secure an additional member in each parliamentary committee, boosting its oversight of the opposition. This growth follows the recent addition of two PRO deputies and Silvia Lospennato's substitute. Meanwhile, other blocs like Provincias Unidas and PRO-UCR alliances reorganize for the period starting December 10.
