Explosion at villa in Örebro

An explosion occurred at a villa in Mellringe, Örebro, on Wednesday evening. No one was injured, and police have cordoned off the area to investigate. A preliminary investigation into general dangerous destruction has been initiated.

On Wednesday evening, shortly after 23:30, police were alerted to an explosion at a villa in the Mellringe district in western Örebro. According to police, something exploded inside or outside the villa, but no one was home at the time and no people were injured. Material damage to the building has been reported.

Police, rescue services, and ambulance responded to the scene. The area was cordoned off overnight, and police conducted several investigative measures, including searching for perpetrators and speaking with residents in the area. No one has been detained in connection with the incident so far.

“We are on site and have cordoned off the area,” says Jan Matérne, duty officer at the police, to SVT Nyheter.

“Something has exploded and there is some material damage. We are on site to get clarity,” he adds to Nerikes Allehanda.

A preliminary investigation into general dangerous destruction has been opened to map out what happened. Police are still searching for suspects and urge witnesses to come forward.
