Carmen Martínez (PSOE), chair of the Congress commission investigating the DANA crisis management, expelled PP spokesman César Sánchez on Monday after three warnings during a session.
The Congress commission investigating the DANA floods management in the Valencian Community turned tense on Monday. While questioning José Ángel Núñez, head of Climatology at Aemet in Valencia, PP spokesman César Sánchez accused chair Carmen Martínez of acting “de manera discrecional y sectaria” with the question-answer format.
Martínez called him to order three times for interrupting and replying. On the third, after reading the Rules of Procedure, Sánchez retorted that “nadie cuestiona el Reglamento”. The exchange escalated when Martínez warned they were trying to unnerve the witness and would protect him.
Sánchez replied: “¿Le parece que quiero estar aquí?”. Ignoring the warning, Martínez expelled him from Sala Prim. All Grupo Popular members left with him.
The commission is probing the crisis handling, where a judge criticized Mazón's government for lacking “coordinación alguna” despite the emergency's scale.
