Heavy rain causes flooding in two neighborhoods in south jakarta

Heavy rain has flooded two neighborhoods in Pesanggrahan subdistrict, South Jakarta, with water levels up to 50 cm. The Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency attributes the flooding to intense rainfall and the overflow of Kali Keuangan. Authorities have deployed personnel to monitor and address the inundation.

The Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD DKI Jakarta) reported that two neighborhoods (RT) in Pesanggrahan subdistrict, South Jakarta, were inundated by flooding due to heavy rain hitting the area on Sunday. Water levels reached about 50 cm, triggered by high rainfall in DKI Jakarta and surrounding regions, as well as the overflow of Kali Keuangan.

"The water height is around 50 cm. This flooding was caused by heavy rain that hit the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings," said Head of the Data and Information Center of BPBD DKI Jakarta, Mohamad Yohan, in Jakarta.

To manage the situation, BPBD deployed personnel to monitor flooding conditions across all areas. They are coordinating efforts with the Water Resources Agency (SDA), Public Works Agency, and Public Works, Spatial Planning, and Housing Agency (Gulkarmat) to pump out the water. Additionally, water barriers are ensured to function properly, and basic needs for affected residents are being prepared.

"We are deploying personnel to monitor flooding conditions in every area," Yohan stated.

Yohan urged the public to remain vigilant against further potential inundation. "We urge the public to stay cautious and alert to the potential for pooling water. In emergencies, immediately call 112. This service is free and operates 24 hours non-stop," he said. The incident highlights Jakarta's ongoing vulnerability to seasonal flooding from heavy rains.
