The Higher Education Loans Board has warned students about a fake notice claiming that 2026/27 Kenya Medical Training College loan applications will open on July 15.
The board stated on July 1 that the notice was not issued by HELB. It urged students to verify all loan information only through official channels.
The fake notice targeted students awaiting portal updates. HELB said the actual opening is expected in the second week of July and depends on the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service completing student placements.
Subsequent loan applications for continuing students opened on June 1. First-time applicants have been told to prepare documents including a National ID or Maisha Card, passport photo, email address, and KCPE and KCSE index numbers.
