The match took place at the Royal Thai Air Force Hockey Field in Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday, April 2, 2026. Indonesia pressed from the start, though Hong Kong mounted a fierce resistance until the final minutes.
Indonesia's goals came from captain Aulia Akbar Al Ardh (two), Khaerulloh Akmal, and Fadli Muhamad. Hong Kong replied with strikes from Yan Kwan Cheung, Pak Ko Parco Au, and Farman Ali.
This result puts Indonesia atop the temporary standings, following a 1-1 draw between Kazakhstan and Thailand. Coach Muhammad Dhaarma Raj said, "The players are fit and ready for the qualifiers. Our target is to secure a ticket to the Asian Games 2026."
The team prepared with a national training camp since January 2026 and test matches. Upcoming fixtures are against Oman on April 3, Kazakhstan on April 5, and Thailand on April 6.
