Jeannette Jara highlights meeting with US ambassador Brandon Judd

Chilean presidential candidate Jeannette Jara met with the new US Ambassador to Chile, Brandon Judd, in a protocolar encounter after a presidential debate. They discussed shared challenges and the importance of dialogue and multilateralism. Jara presented it as the spirit she would bring to foreign relations in her potential government.

Following the presidential debate organized by the Asociación de Radiodifusores de Chile (ARCHI) on Wednesday, which pitted Jeannette Jara against José Antonio Kast, the Unidad por Chile candidate held a protocolar meeting with Brandon Judd, the ambassador appointed by the Donald Trump administration.

Jara confirmed the encounter that night on her X account: “Today I held a protocolar meeting with Brandon Judd, the new US Ambassador to Chile. We talked about the challenges we share and the importance of dialogue and multilateralism to address them. That is the spirit with which I want to conduct our foreign relations: with respect, cooperation, and always thinking about what is best for our country”.

Hours earlier, Judd also shared his view on X: “After my meeting with presidential candidate Jeannette Jara, I would like to share something simple: I value the frank and respectful conversation”. He added: “For the US, it is key to maintain open dialogue with all democratic forces in Chile and continue strengthening cooperation on concrete issues that matter to people here and in the United States: growth, security, innovation, and opportunities”.

The former Labor Minister, standard-bearer of the center-left, emphasized that this type of interaction exemplifies her approach to foreign relations in a potential government, prioritizing respect and bilateral cooperation.
