He followed with 28 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals in a win against the Portland Trail Blazers, playing 41 minutes despite not leading the team in scoring that night. The highlight came in a matchup against the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Pistons, where Leonard erupted for a career-high 55 points—tying the Clippers' franchise record and setting an Intuit Dome high—along with 11 rebounds, two assists, five steals and three blocks on 65.4% field goal shooting, 50% from three and 94.1% from the line. After the Pistons game, Leonard reflected on his aggressive approach: “I’ve never really been in this situation. I try to get guys the ball and just sharing it. But the coaches need me to be aggressive the entire game. Just a different evolution. Me trying to shoot more threes and trying to evolve my game to today’s game.”
