Leksand adds new players aiming for SHL return

Leksand sports chief Jesper Ollas has detailed the club's summer signings in an interview. The team has secured several players including Åke Stakkestad and Oliver Dejbjerg Larsen to strengthen its bid for promotion.

Jesper Ollas explained that Stakkestad rejected offers from SHL clubs like Luleå and Frölunda. The 24-year-old forward instead chose Leksand for a larger role in HockeyAllsvenskan after previous limited playing time at the higher level.

Oliver Dejbjerg Larsen turned down opportunities in North America to join the club. Ollas noted the player's strong junior record and potential for development over a two-year contract.

Riley McCourt and Carter Berger were acquired from the ECHL. Ollas recalled his first impression of McCourt with the quote "Jävlar, vem är den här killen?" and highlighted both players' experience on larger European rinks.

Additional signings include Victor Sjöholm and Tyler Kelleher. Ollas described the moves as a mix of calculated risks and known quantities to help Leksand compete for a return to the SHL.
