Martínez wrote: “Recuerden que la caída de los grandes es la felicidad de los mediocres”. In the same post he thanked fans for their support and highlighted the team’s journey.
The Manchester United player also addressed the country’s leadership: “Cuidemos nuestro país. ¡Te amo, Argentina!”. He recalled the difficulties overcome during the tournament and expressed pride in representing the national team.
Martínez has voiced political opinions on other occasions, such as posing with the “Las Malvinas son argentinas” flag after a match against England.
