Musikhjälpen 2025 starts in Karlstad with hosts locked in

Musikhjälpen 2025 has begun in Karlstad, where hosts Assia Dahir, Linnea Wikblad, and Hampus Hedström were locked into the glass booth on Monday evening. They will broadcast live for 144 hours on SVT and SR to raise funds for children's right to education. This year's theme is 'All children have the right to go to school'.

After a week of preparations on Stora torget, renamed 'Kärlekens torg', Musikhjälpen 2025 kicked off around 8 p.m. on Monday evening, December 1. Hosts Assia Dahir, on her second year, Linnea Wikblad on her third, and debutant Hampus Hedström from Sunne were locked into the glass booth. They will not leave the booth during the next 144 hours and will broadcast live on TV and radio until Sunday evening.

Hampus Hedström expressed nervousness ahead of the start: 'I am a bit excited of course, but that's how it should be.' Assia Dahir joked about not giving him too much advice: 'He'll have to manage on his own, survival of the fittest.' Hedström, raised in Värmland, has praised the host city: 'I've been bragging about Värmland for months and said that Karlstad will be the best host city.'

During the week, the booth will be visited by artists such as Peg Parnevik, Oskar Linnros, Hooja, and Tjuvjakt with Fanny Avonne. Molly Sandén will close the event around 8 p.m. on Sunday. Other guests include Benjamin Ingrosso, Lars Lerin, Tim 'Sporttouchen' Rangström, and Alice Stenlöf. The fundraising goes to Radiohjälpen to support 234 million children and youth in war- and disaster-affected countries, where the right to schooling is not a given despite being a human right.

The event is broadcast around the clock on SVT Play and aims to highlight and combat the lack of education in vulnerable areas.
