NHL opens new office in Zurich to expand European operations

The National Hockey League announced the opening of its new office in Zürich, Switzerland, to bolster its international presence. The office, which officially opened in August 2025, will focus on operations, strategy, development, media, and sponsorship sales. NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly highlighted the move as a pivotal step in growing the sport globally.

The NHL's new Zürich office aims to deepen connections with international fans and partners while expanding the league's footprint across Europe. Led by Jaka Lednik, NHL Senior Vice President of International, and John Lewicki, NHL Senior Vice President of International Partnerships, the team includes experts in media distribution and corporate partnerships. These leaders have relocated to Zürich to oversee on-the-ground efforts.

'We’re at a pivotal moment in our global journey,' said NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly. 'Establishing our corporate presence in Europe marks a critical step forward, allowing us to deepen our connection with international fans and partners alike. By investing in a new office, we’re positioning ourselves to further, and better, grow the game of hockey outside of North America.'

The initiative supports fan engagement through events like the NHL Global Fan Tour, NHL Street Hockey, and Hockey Day celebrations. It also aligns with the league's global calendar, including the 2025 NHL Global Series Sweden presented by Fastenal at Avicii Arena in Stockholm. There, the Nashville Predators will face the Pittsburgh Penguins on November 14 at 8 p.m. CET and November 16 at 3 p.m. CET. Mercedes serves as the official car partner in Sweden, activating during the series.

The NHL reaches more than 250 countries and territories via media rights deals. For the 2025-26 season, DAZN debuts as the home of NHL.TV in nearly 200 countries outside the U.S. and Canada. Over the past eight seasons, NHL Saturday and Sunday games have aired in prime time for European fans. Future highlights include NHL participation in the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina and the 2028 World Cup of Hockey.
