6月14日、滋賀県甲賀市で甲賀流忍者認定試験が行われ、国内外から131人が参加した。試験は初心者、中級、上級の3レベルに分かれる。

初心者レベルでは筆記試験に加え、忍者衣装の着用と手裏剣投げで加点が与えられた。中級は甲賀忍者の歴史に関する深い理解を問う筆記試験、上級は別途の報告書提出も必要だった。
甲賀忍者研究協会が主催するこの試験の合格率は、初心者90パーセント、中級70パーセント、上級55パーセントだった。参加者らは長年の忍者文化への興味を理由に挙げている。
