Olympic hockey 2030 moved to Lyon

The International Olympic Committee has announced that the ice hockey tournament at the 2030 Winter Olympics will take place in Lyon, France. The decision follows the rejection of plans to host the event in Nice.

The 2030 Winter Olympics are scheduled for the French Alps, but several sports will be held at different venues. Ice hockey was originally planned for Allianz Riviera stadium in Nice.

Nice officials and the local football club OGC Nice declined the proposal. They cited the high cost and disruption of relocating the football team for several months.

Lyon will now host the Olympic hockey event. The city is already set to stage the 2028 Ice Hockey World Championship at the LDLC Arena, which seats 12,000 spectators. The specific arena for the 2030 Olympics remains undecided.
