Over 1 million passports issued in nine months

Ethiopia's Immigration and Citizenship Service issued over 1 million passports to citizens in the past nine months of fiscal year 2018. Addis Ababa. Ethiopia's Immigration and Citizenship Service has issued over 1 million passports in the past nine months of fiscal year 2018. Ambo Mekasa, the agency's communication director, confirmed this to Fana Digital.

Selamawit Dawit, the director general, noted that the service delivers regular and emergency passports, visas, and Ethiopian birth certificates. She highlighted successful operations in air and land border controls. During this period, 824,951 visas and more than 29,000 birth certificates were also provided.

World-class standards were maintained in air and land border services, generating over 4.5 million in revenue pathways. Additionally, 21 individuals attempting to forge legal passports and tarnish the agency's reputation are under investigation and arrest by security forces.
