Pienaar backs Bafana Bafana beating Mexico 2-0

Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Steven Pienaar has predicted a 2-0 victory for South Africa against Mexico in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Pienaar, who featured in the 2010 World Cup squad, stated that the current South African team is stronger than the one from that tournament. He also noted that Mexico has declined since then. South Africa is drawn in Group A alongside Mexico, ranked 14th in the world, South Korea at 25th, and the Czech Republic at 39th. Bafana Bafana sit at 60th. Pienaar said the rankings should not deter the team. “I think it’s going to be 2-0 for Bafana Bafana and I think this team is much better than the team we had and Mexico is not as good as the team from 2010,” he said.
