Pistons trade Isaiah Stewart to Grizzlies for picks

The Detroit Pistons traded backup center Isaiah Stewart to the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night during the 2026 NBA Draft. In return, Detroit acquired three future second-round picks.

The deal sends Stewart, who is 25 years old and has a $15 million team option for the 2027-28 season, to Memphis. The Pistons received a 2029 second-round pick that is the most favorable among the Knicks, Pistons and Bucks, a 2031 second-round pick via the Mavericks, and a 2032 second-round pick via the Pistons.

Memphis added Stewart to bolster front-court depth behind players including Zach Edey and Cameron Boozer. The Grizzlies value his rim protection, as opponents shot 49.6 percent within six feet when he was the primary defender last season.

Detroit used the trade to create about $33 million in cap space by moving Stewart's salary. The team plans to pursue offensive additions to complement Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren.

Both teams received a B grade for the transaction in analysis from CBS Sports.
