Public Service Commission cancels 86 previously advertised jobs

The Public Service Commission of Kenya has cancelled 86 job positions it had advertised earlier this month. The decision affects several roles in the foreign service department. No reasons were provided for the cancellation.

On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the Public Service Commission (PSC) announced the cancellation of 86 previously advertised job positions with immediate effect. The statement from the commission read in part: 'The following advertised posts are hereby cancelled.'

The cancelled positions include the Director of Foreign Service and Minister II in the Foreign Affairs department, which had 37 vacancies at CSG 5 level. Also affected were the Deputy Director of Foreign Service/Minister Counsellor with 26 openings at CSG 6, and the Assistant Director of Foreign Service/Counsellor with 23 positions at CSG 7.

These jobs were originally advertised on October 28, 2025, through an official notice from the PSC. Interested and qualified candidates had been urged to apply online via the commission's website before November 18, 2025, at 5pm. The earlier communication emphasized that details about the positions and application process were available on the PSC website.

The PSC did not disclose any reasons for the cancellation in its announcement. In the initial job notice, the commission warned applicants about potential fraud: 'Beware of fraudsters soliciting bribes from the public while masquerading as Commission staff. The Public Service Commission does not charge any fees for job applications, shortlisting, interviews, or appointments.'

The PSC is responsible for managing human resources in the public service, fostering ethical conduct, and promoting efficiency for national development. It has the authority to establish or abolish offices based on public needs and advises the government on appointments and related matters.
