Storm and rain kill 56 in Uttar Pradesh

A powerful storm with heavy rain struck several districts of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, killing at least 56 people. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered immediate relief and compensation measures.

The storm hit Prayagraj, Bhadohi, Fatehpur, Unnao and other districts. Sixteen deaths each were reported from Prayagraj and Bhadohi regions, nine from Fatehpur, five from Budaun and smaller numbers from Unnao, Kanpur Dehat, Chandauli and Sonbhadra.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences to the bereaved families. He directed district magistrates to complete relief work within 24 hours and instructed revenue, agriculture and insurance teams to survey damage for prompt compensation.

Uprooted trees, fallen electricity poles and damaged houses were reported across affected areas. In Bhadohi, six people were injured. Officials continue rescue and restoration efforts.
