Transformer fire at sector 72 disrupts power and rapid metro in gurugram

A fire at the 220-KVA power station in Sector 72 led to widespread power cuts and halted Rapid Metro services in Gurugram on Friday night.

The fire broke out around 8 pm on 22 May at the Sector 72 substation. Rapid Metro services were impacted for 25 minutes, though some accounts mentioned a disruption exceeding one hour.

Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam spokesperson Sanjay Chugh said power supply was slowly restored a couple of hours later and the situation is now normal.

Residents in multiple sectors reported extended outages amid summer heat. Official logs for 20 May had shown urban feeders receiving nearly 24 hours of supply.
