Leaders from CGT and CTAs support Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof's presidential bid for 2027. They met in La Plata on Monday to address the loss of provincial labor oversight due to national labor reform. Kicillof called the government's actions unconstitutional.
Several union leaders, including Héctor Daer from FATSA and CGT, Octavio Argüello from CGT, Hugo Yasky from CTA of Workers, and Hugo Godoy from Autonomous CTA, see Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof as a peronism renewal. National deputy Hugo Moyano also backs the project. Daer stated Kicillof meets the necessary conditions.
On Monday, Kicillof met in La Plata's government headquarters with Labor Minister Walter Correa and union representatives from various provinces. They discussed National Law Nº27.802, which curtails provincial labor inspection powers. Attendees included Argüello, Godoy, Yasky, Daer, Roberto Baradel, and Oscar de Isasi.
"There is a clear attempt by the national Government to suppress the faculties and competencies of the provinces regarding labor inspection and control: what they are doing is absolutely unconstitutional," Kicillof declared. He added the aim is to "degrade labor rights" and that the province will continue protecting workers.
Kicillof stressed the need for provincial coordination against a centralist government. While some urge caution given 2027's distance, union support signals unity in the peronist opposition.
