Uppsala Municipality procures vocational training and expands own care education

The Labour Market Committee in Uppsala has decided on a new procurement of Komvux training in several vocational areas. At the same time the municipality will expand its own education in care and welfare.

The decision covers training in construction and civil engineering, electricity and energy, plumbing and property as well as vehicles and transport. Current agreements expire on 30 September 2027 and the procurement will follow a simplified procedure under the Public Procurement Act.

The committee chose not to procure adult education in care and welfare. Instead the existing training in municipal operation will be expanded to strengthen quality, especially regarding language skills.

Chair Pavlos Cavelier Bizas (S) said that gathering operations in own operation facilitates development work. The administration is tasked with preparing a plan to be presented in autumn 2026 that includes an analysis of the need for new premises.
