Vasco defeated Audax Italiano 2-1 in the Copa Sudamericana group stage. The match took place on May 6 at the Bicentenario Municipal de La Florida stadium in Santiago.
The match began with an own goal by Alan Saldivia in the fourth minute of the first half, giving Audax Italiano the lead. Vasco responded in the second half with a penalty scored by Claudio Paul Spinelli in the 18th minute and a goal by Matheus França in the 25th minute.
Marcelo Ortiz of Audax Italiano was sent off with a red card in the 16th minute of the second half. Both teams held 50 percent possession, though Vasco created more shots on goal with 19 attempts compared to 10 from their opponent.
Vasco will face Olimpia on May 20 in Asunción, while Audax Italiano plays Barracas Central on May 19 in Santiago.
