16-year-old sentenced for raping disabled girl in Uppsala

A 16-year-old boy has been sentenced to one year in closed youth care for the gross rape of a disabled girl at Gränby centrum last fall.

The district court found that the then 16-year-old boy committed the assault together with a 14-year-old boy. The 15-year-old girl was held down and beaten at four public toilets. The perpetrators filmed parts of the incident and threatened to distribute the material. The boy was convicted of gross rape, degrading photography and child pornography offenses. The younger boy was found to have participated but is too young for criminal liability and is referred to social services. The two teenagers must pay 295 000 kronor in damages to the girl. The verdict was delivered on 11 June 2026.
