Jakarta (VIVA/ANTARA) - Indonesia's Foreign Ministry confirms that 32 Indonesian citizens (WNI) evacuated from Iran will arrive in the country on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Acting Director for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens (PWNI) at the ministry, Heni Hamidah, explained that the citizens are being repatriated via Baku, Azerbaijan, and will be flown to Jakarta in two batches.

"The first batch is expected to arrive in Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon," Heni stated in a written message to ANTARA in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Heni added that the citizens are safe and well while waiting for their flight from Baku. The ministry will continue to monitor every stage of the evacuation to ensure the process runs smoothly and the citizens arrive safely.

The evacuation of Indonesians from Iran began gradually on Friday, March 6, 2026, with the first phase through Azerbaijan. In a media briefing that day, Heni said the evacuation plan was prepared based on security developments, including selecting the safest routes.

"Evacuation routes will be assessed according to field conditions and determined by colleagues at the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran and Baku, Azerbaijan," Heni said.

Subsequent evacuation plans will be decided after the government evaluates the latest security considerations and input from the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran. The embassy continues to communicate with Indonesians there, both residents and visitors, and remains operational to provide assistance.

"The Indonesian Embassy in Tehran will continue to operate to provide aid and needs to all Indonesians still in Iran," Heni added.

On March 2, 2026, Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that the citizens would travel overland to Baku for 10 hours before continuing by flight to Indonesia.
