AIK hires Oliver Styf as assistant coach from Kalmar

Swedish hockey club AIK has added Oliver Styf as its new assistant coach for the upcoming season. The 35-year-old joins after working with incoming head coach Viktor Tuurala at Kalmar. Styf signed a two-year contract with the Stockholm-based team.

AIK announced the hiring of Oliver Styf shortly after confirming that Johan Andersson will remain as an assistant coach and Niklas Andersson is departing. Styf, who began his coaching career in the 2021/22 season following the end of his playing days, previously assisted Tuurala at Kalmar. The club recruited Tuurala as its new head coach earlier this offseason as part of building its staff for next season. Styf, originally from Stockholm, represented teams including Hammarby and Huddinge during his playing career. He expressed excitement about returning to his hometown club. “I have always had a dream of coming back to the place where I spent a lot of time as a young boy. When this opportunity arose to be part of one of Sweden's biggest clubs, there were no hesitations on my side,” Styf said. AIK sportchef Lasse Johansson welcomed the addition. “We are very pleased to bring in Oliver Styf to our coaching staff. He is an ambitious coach who will contribute a lot to our daily work and already has a well-functioning collaboration with Viktor Tuurala,” Johansson stated.
