WWE Hall of Famer AJ Styles said his son Avery is not yet ready for a WWE tryout despite an impressive in-ring debut. Avery has several independent matches scheduled in the coming days.
AJ Styles has been training his son Avery in the ring and was in his corner for the younger Styles' first match against Ashton Martin. Styles praised the performance during an interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet.
"He's night and day better than me," Styles said. He added that Avery can do things he has done but they must make sense in context. Styles emphasized the importance of little details like timing that cannot be coached.
Avery is scheduled to team with CJ Gallows against Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson on July 26 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He will make his GCW debut on July 31 in Omaha, Nebraska, followed by a match against Marcus Mathers on August 1 in Minneapolis.
Styles said his job is to prepare Avery and that he hopes his son receives a WWE tryout one day, though he is not ready now.
