The University of Akron track and field team is set to compete in the Jud Logan Memorial invitational hosted by Kent State on January 23. Youngstown State University's Penguins will also make the short trip to Kent, Ohio, for the event at the KSU Field House. Athletes from both teams are preparing to contest various sprints, jumps, throws, and pole vault events alongside competitors from Mount Union, Ursuline, and Malone.

Hosted by Kent State University, the meet features the Golden Flashes as well as teams from the University of Akron, Youngstown State University, Mount Union, Ursuline College, and Malone University.
For the Zips of Akron, this outing marks a key early-season competition following their recent activities. The team travels just a short distance to face familiar regional rivals in a variety of field and track disciplines.
Youngstown State's Penguins, fresh off a strong performance where they claimed 12 event wins at their own YSU Collegiate Invitational at the WATTS Center, are eager to build momentum. The Guins have entered a robust lineup across multiple events. On the women's side, competitors include Ava Littler, Lea Parham, and Mylee Harmon in the 60m hurdles; Melody Harloff, Elle Pearsall, and Anais Martinez in the 60m dash; and others in the 200m, 400m, high jump, weight throw, shot put, long jump, triple jump, and pole vault. Notable entries are Brooklynn McIntyre and Jaylynn King in throws, Sara Roe in jumps, and Jaden Brambley leading the pole vaulters.
The men's roster features Brandon Hutchinson, Micah Mitchell, and others in hurdles and dashes; Shamir Rose and Teziah Howard in the 400m; Karl Kain and Isaiah Barker in high jump and jumps; Levi Glassmeyer and Jameire Robinson in weight throw; and a deep pole vault group including Lukas Lang.
This invitational honors Jud Logan, a legendary coach, and provides these athletes an opportunity to fine-tune techniques ahead of the indoor season's progression. No results are available yet as the event is upcoming.
