Two-time Grammy-nominated indie artist Arlo Parks has revealed her upcoming album, Ambiguous Desire, set for release on April 3. The announcement coincides with her new single "2SIDED," which features a video set in an intimate, dimly lit club. This project follows three years after her previous release, My Soft Machine.
Arlo Parks, a two-time Grammy-nominated indie artist, has announced her new album, Ambiguous Desire, scheduled for release on April 3. The reveal comes alongside her latest single, “2SIDED,” accompanied by a music video depicting Parks in a dimly lit, muted-color intimate club surrounded by dancing people.
This album marks a shift from her last work, My Soft Machine, released three years ago, which was known for its deeply personal and emotional depth. Ambiguous Desire is anticipated to showcase a bouncier, more fun aspect of the artist's style, influenced by New York nightlife.
In a statement, Parks elaborated on the album's core theme: “This record has desire at its center. Desire is a life force, it’s a wanting, a yearning, a momentum — we are all alive because there is something or someone we want — desire is an engine. But it is also mysterious, tangled, random, enlightening and HUMAN.”
To celebrate the release, Parks shared details of intimate shows in the UK via a fan newsletter. The tour kicks off with an album release party on April 2 at Fabric in London, followed by performances at The Wardrobe in Leeds on April 4, Rescue Rooms in Nottingham on April 6, Rough Trade East in London for a live set and signing on April 7, Circuit in Kingston on April 8, Chalk in Brighton on April 9, O2 Academy Oxford on April 11, and The 1865 in Southampton on April 12.
These events highlight Parks' return to live performances in her home country, building anticipation for the album's exploration of human desire.
