Ashley Tisdale is set to executive produce and star in a new half-hour comedy series called Toxic Moms at Netflix.
The project follows a sleep-deprived new mom who joins a clique of cool, wealthy mothers. The story examines what happens when the group shows a darker side and explores how far someone might go for community amid the isolation of motherhood.
Sabrina Jalees is writing the series, which draws from Tisdale's experiences as a mother of two young children. Ali Wong is attached as an executive producer and is considered to direct the show if it advances to production.
Tisdale rose to fame playing Sharpay in the High School Musical films. The new series stems from her January essay in The Cut about leaving a toxic group of celebrity mothers.
