Coinbase-backed Ethereum layer-2 network Base resumed block production on Thursday after a roughly two-hour outage. The disruption halted transaction processing on one of Ethereum's largest layer-2 networks.
The incident began at 16:03 UTC when Base reported that mainnet block production was unhealthy. By 16:52 UTC the team had identified an invalid block as the trigger and pursued remediation efforts.
Base resumed operations after the outage. Internal nodes synced correctly while the team advised ecosystem node operators to restart their nodes. The root cause remains under investigation.
This marks another disruption for Base following a previous outage in August 2025. The network will continue monitoring stability and issue further updates.
