Burn Eternal finishes debut album but lacks record label

Burn Eternal, the new project reuniting Killswitch Engage's Adam Dutkiewicz and former vocalist Howard Jones, has completed its debut album. The duo is currently negotiating with potential labels for release. Dutkiewicz shared updates on the project's progress and sound in a recent interview.

Burn Eternal represents a long-awaited collaboration between guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage and Howard Jones, who served as the band's lead vocalist from 2002 to 2012. The pair has finalized their debut album, though no release date is set due to ongoing discussions with record labels.

In an interview with TotalRock’s ‘Louder’, Dutkiewicz confirmed the album's readiness: “It’s all ready to go. There’s still no release date, but it’s done. It’s done. We’re still in the midst of talking with some record labels as well, so obviously that needs to be shored up as well. It’s in the process, though. It’s in the process, yep.”

Describing the music, he noted its familiarity: “It sounds a bit like Killswitch, obviously, because I’m a songwriter for Killswitch. Yeah, it sounds like me and Howard.”

Killswitch Engage, formed in 1999 in Westfield, Massachusetts, is a prominent American metalcore band. Its current members include vocalist Jesse Leach, guitarists Joel Stroetzel and Adam Dutkiewicz, bassist Mike D’Antonio, and drummer Justin Foley. Leach, the founding vocalist, left after two albums but returned in 2012 following Jones's departure.

The band's breakthrough came with the 2004 album “The End of Heartache”, which peaked at number 21 on the Billboard 200 and earned gold certification from the RIAA for over 500,000 units sold in the US. The title track was nominated for a Grammy in 2005 for Best Metal Performance. Their 2006 release “As Daylight Dies” achieved platinum status, featuring the platinum single “My Curse”.

Post-reunion, the 2013 album “Disarm the Descent” reached the top 10 in the US, with “In Due Time” earning a Grammy nomination. The band's ninth studio album, “This Consequence”, arrived on February 21, 2025.

This new venture builds on the duo's shared history, promising a sound rooted in their Killswitch Engage legacy.
