Wide receiver Calvin Austin III, previously with the Pittsburgh Steelers, has signed a one-year contract with the New York Giants worth up to $4.5 million, including $3 million in incentives. Calvin Austin III spent four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, recording 84 receptions for 1,100 yards and 8 touchdowns. In 2025, his final year there, he had 31 catches for 372 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also contributed on special teams with 639 punt returns averaging 8.9 yards and one touchdown return over his career. Entering the 2025 season as an effective starter, Austin had 4 receptions for 70 yards and 1 touchdown in the opener, with two more games exceeding 40 yards, including Week 18 against the Baltimore Ravens where he scored the game-winning touchdown that eliminated them from playoff contention. This performance preceded John Harbaugh's departure from the Ravens, after which Harbaugh became the Giants' head coach. Harbaugh had targeted Austin in the 2022 draft, but the Steelers selected him instead. Pittsburgh did not pursue re-signing Austin this offseason. The Steelers finished 10-7 in 2025, winning their division but losing in the Wild Card round for the second straight year under different quarterbacks. Mike Tomlin has resigned, signaling roster and staff changes. Austin performed best with Russell Wilson in 2024 amid inconsistent quarterback play.
