At the IPL 2026 auction, Kolkata Knight Riders secured Australian all-rounder Cameron Green for a record Rs 25.20 crore, making him the most expensive overseas player in IPL history. This breaks previous benchmarks set in recent auctions.
The IPL auction has long been known for its sky-high bids, and the IPL 2026 auction added a new chapter. Kolkata Knight Riders acquired Cameron Green for Rs 25.20 crore, surpassing Mitchell Starc's Rs 24.75 crore record from 2024, also by the same team. Green had previously been bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 17.50 crore in 2023.
The top five most expensive players list is topped by Rishabh Pant, acquired by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore ahead of IPL 2025. Following him is Shreyas Iyer, picked up by Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore. Green ranks third, Starc fourth, and Venkatesh Iyer fifth, with KKR paying Rs 23.75 crore for him in 2025.
The auction filled 77 slots out of 369 cricketers. This reflects the growing popularity of IPL and the high demand for top talents.
