Cyle Larin scored late to secure a historic 1-1 draw for Canada against Bosnia and Herzegovina in their World Cup 2026 opener at Toronto's BMO Field on Friday.
Jovo Lukic gave Bosnia the lead in the 21st minute with a header from Sead Kolasinac's flick at a corner. Canada had dominated possession but struggled to convert chances until the second half.
Larin, who entered as a substitute, equalized in the 78th minute with a clinical finish after a give-and-go with Promise David. The goal marked Canada's first-ever point at a World Cup finals.
Canada coach Jesse Marsch urged his players during a water break to press for a winner against a tiring opponent. He later noted the team showed improvement after a tentative first half.
Both teams next play on Thursday, with Canada facing Qatar in Vancouver.
