Cariló anticipates full occupancy for Carnival XXL weekend

Ignacio Cattaneo, president of the Cariló Tourism Chamber, forecasts 100% occupancy for the Carnival long weekend in the 2025 summer season. While consumption throughout the season was subdued, favorable weather and bookings are boosting tourist activity. The destination remains appealing to both local and international visitors.

Cariló, on the Buenos Aires coast, is gearing up for a tourism peak during the Carnival XXL weekend in February 2025. Ignacio Cattaneo, president of the Cariló Tourism Chamber, noted that the summer season featured solid booking levels, though not all establishments reached full capacity. "From 80% upwards is a good occupancy rate at the business level," he explained, adding that the overall average fell short of the desired 95-100%, despite some hotels achieving 100%.

For the holiday, expectations are higher: "We expect to reach 100%, I think it will be the summer's peak," Cattaneo forecasted. The weather is aiding positively, with "4 or 5 splendid days, with a lot of heat" encouraging last-minute decisions. February saw a slight dip compared to January, but occupancy never dropped below 60% on quieter days, rising ahead of the holiday.

Carnival celebrations focus on the Pinamar district, including Valeria del Mar, easily reachable from Cariló. The destination draws foreign tourists from countries like Germany and Russia, as well as diplomats based in Buenos Aires. Regarding spending, it was "very subdued" in dining and clothing, but stronger in self-service stores and supermarkets.

Cattaneo summarized the season's goal: not aiming for exceptional results, but at least "covering all expenses and breaking even." Prices vary by location and amenities, with pricier options beachfront and more affordable public beach areas. Cariló has four beach clubs and extensive free sections for umbrellas or 4x4 access. The executive ended on an upbeat note: "This weekend will be very good, we're looking forward to it, everyone's prepared," with staff reinforcements in hotels and restaurants.
