Country artist Casey Barnes has announced his new single 'Made For This', set for release on February 27, which will serve as the theme song for Nine Network's coverage of the 2026 National Rugby League season. The track will feature in broadcasts of Thursday, Friday, and Sunday matches throughout the 30-week season starting March 1. Barnes described the song as an anthem about resilience and self-belief.
Casey Barnes, an award-winning Australian country musician, revealed details of his upcoming single 'Made For This' on February 17. The song, co-written in Nashville with Andy Skib, Jimmy Thow, Michael Paynter, and Michael DeLorenzis, is characterized as a gritty, defiant anthem powered by loud guitars and pounding drums. It emphasizes themes of resilience, self-belief, and overcoming adversity.
Barnes shared his perspective on the track: “This song is about backing yourself when everything’s on the line. It’s about coming back from adversity, not being afraid of the challenge, and using it as fuel.” A press release described it as a “stadium-ready statement,” a “defiant anthem about coming back stronger, thriving under pressure, and proving yourself when the world says you can’t,” driven by soaring guitars, pounding drums, and an unstoppable chorus.
The single has been selected as the official theme for Nine Network’s broadcast of the entire 2026 NRL season. It will play across all Thursday, Friday, and Sunday matches on Nine, its affiliated stations, and 9Now, beginning Sunday, March 1, for the 30-week duration.
This release marks a new chapter for Barnes, who recently signed with Community Music, part of Unified Music Group, after amicably ending a six-year partnership with Chugg Music. He has also appointed new management with Dan Biddle. 'Made For This' serves as the opening track for a forthcoming studio album planned for mid-2026.
Barnes is scheduled to perform at the CMC Rocks QLD festival in Ipswich on March 21, followed by appearances at the Echuca Country Music Festival on March 28, Man From Snowy River Bush Festival on April 18, Regfest Mildura on August 15, Triple B Rodeo on September 12, and Launceston Country Music Festival on November 28, with additional dates to be announced. A national headline tour will support the new album.
