CNTE to march in CDMX today and review sit-in continuation

The CNTE will gather at the Ángel de la Independencia on Friday to march toward SEGOB and mark the Nochixtlán events from a decade ago.

Members of the Coordinadora Nacional de Trabajadores de la Educación gathered from 10:00 a.m. at the Ángel de la Independencia. At 13:30 the SSC closed both directions of Avenida Universidad in Benito Juárez borough.

The mobilization marks the events that occurred ten years ago in Asunción Nochixtlán, Oaxaca. Demonstrators demand justice for the victims and their families and will head to the Secretaría de Gobernación.

Yenny Araceli Pérez of Section 22 stated that the Asamblea Nacional Representativa will review on Friday whether to maintain the national strike and the sit-in in the historic center after twenty days. The CNTE deems the government proposal on AFORES insufficient and seeks a solidarity pension system.

Mario Delgado, Secretary of Public Education, urged completion of the school year. At least one million students remain without classes, of whom 734,054 are in Oaxaca.
