Defensoría warns of humanitarian crisis in El Tambo amid clashes

The Defensoría del Pueblo reported a serious humanitarian crisis in the Huisitó area of El Tambo, Cauca, where clashes between the Army and FARC dissidents have left families confined and six civilians wounded.

The clashes in recent days affected an educational institution where 12 children were present along with the principal and teachers. The Defensoría carried out monitoring and accompaniment to the affected community.

The entity recalled the reinforced protection for the civilian population, especially children and adolescents, under International Humanitarian Law. It called on armed actors to respect these norms and avoid risks to civilians.

In parallel, authorities are searching for four police officers missing since the weekend in Cerro Santa Ana while recovering a drone. An operation involves the National Police, National Army, and Colombian Aerospace Force.
