Delhi Police officers perform rescues beyond regular duties

Beat constables in Delhi have carried out several life-saving interventions in recent months, often without protective equipment, as part of their routine duties.

In August 2025, Head Constable Arvind Kasana and Constable Manish rescued 60-year-old Rajesh Singh from a swamp near the Hindon Canal after he slipped during a morning walk. The officers used a 15-foot pole and rope to pull him out safely.

Officers at the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital Police Chowki regularly manage cases involving unidentified bodies and arrange last rites. In one instance, they reunited a man who had left home in Uttarakhand nearly 40 years earlier with his brother.

During a January 2026 hotel fire in Paharganj, Constables Mukul, Feru and Sanjay evacuated guests without protective gear. In December 2025, Head Constable Anil Mahala carried a flaming LPG cylinder from a house and extinguished the fire using a damp bedsheet.

These officers work 12-hour shifts handling patrols, disputes and emergencies while maintaining records and attending court.
