Dollywood, Dolly Parton’s theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, announced an early closure on March 16 due to inclement weather. The park shut at 5 p.m. instead of its scheduled 8 p.m. It expects to reopen on March 17 with regular hours.
Dollywood opened for its 2026 season on Friday, March 13, kicking off with a parade featuring Dolly Parton, referred to as the Dreamer-in-Chief. The park shared a photo on Instagram: “Happy Opening Day from our Dreamer-in-Chief, @dollyparton 🦋” shared by Dollywood Parks & Resorts (@dollywood). Parton addressed the crowd about recent challenges, including health issues and the death of her husband, Carl Thomas Dean. She said, “I’ve had a few little health issues,” noting her focus on healing “spiritually, emotionally and physically.” She added, “All is good.” Her appearance was notable given recent cancellations of performances due to health concerns. Three days later, on Monday, March 16, Dollywood announced via Instagram story an early closure due to current weather conditions. The statement read: > PARK UPDATE > Due to current weather conditions, Dollywood will close at 5 p.m. tonight, March 16. > Dollywood will open tomorrow (3/17) with regular operating hours as scheduled. This shortened operations by three hours from the planned 8 p.m. close. The park anticipates resuming normal operations on Tuesday, March 17, including the “I Will Always Love You” Music Festival.
