IF Elfsborg defeated IFK Göteborg 2-0 in the Allsvenskan opener in Borås. Taylor Silverholt scored the first goal following a fine chip pass from Simon Olsson, with Júlíus Magnússon heading in the second later.

IF Elfsborg started the Allsvenskan strongly with a 2-0 win at home against IFK Göteborg in Borås. The first goal came in the 59th minute as Simon Olsson chipped the ball over the back line. Taylor Silverholt controlled it on his chest and slotted home 1-0 past goalkeeper Elis Bishesari.

Silverholt described the moment to TV4 Play: "First I thought there would be an offside signal. Then I'm number nine, I know where the goal is – so just put it there." Olsson was also involved in the second goal, crossing for Júlíus Magnússon to head in with 25 minutes remaining.

Goalscorer Silverholt exclaimed after the win: "It can't get any better." Elfsborg's performance was praised for its finesse in several ways.

In another opener, BK Häcken drew 2-2 with IF Brommapojkarna, where Andreas Troelsen salvaged a point with a late shot in the 89th minute.
